As Substance works to promote the movement for progressive change, Ripple Effect was intended to bring people and organizations together from all over the left ideological spectrum, to be a positive supplement to the other demonstrations and events.

There were around 40 organizations (Partners page with a partial list) representing the many diverse issues that compose progressive political organizing, as well as the Sustainable Living Roadshow, a multi-genre bill of national and local musicians, speakers Winona LaDuke, Will Stegar, and Medea Benjamin, and an enthusiastic and diverse crowd of 4-6,000 attendees.

For more information about the event, check out our media page for news coverage, as well as our videos and our flickr page.

An essential part of Ripple Effect’s mission was that it was accessible and inviting to all. The event had to be free to accomplish this, so Substance was responsible with covering all event costs. Fundraising came up short and Substance is still working to make back the huge investment it took to put this event on. To donate to help Substance cover debt from Ripple Effect and support current work, click here.

Thank you to all that participated and/or supported Ripple Effect. We were able to make history and impact the RNC thanks to all of you.
